A Champagne Preview opens the Tewksbury Historical Society's 28th Juried Art Show and Sale Friday, Oct. 11

The 28th Juried Art Show and Sale, sponsored by the Tewksbury Historical Society, opens on Friday, Oct. 11, with a Champagne Preview, 5-6 PM, prior to the Reception and Show. This new feature of the evening allows potential buyers to view the artwork early while enjoying a special drink and food. Those not interested in arriving early may attend the Reception and Show, 6-8 PM., as in the past. Activities will be held at the Zion Lutheran Church, Christian Education Building, 15 Miller St., Oldwick. Champagne Preview tickets are $75 with advanced reservations only. Reception tickets are $25 in advance and $30 at the door. All tickets permit returning to the show during the week as often as desired.

Karen Ross, Reception Chair, and her committee have created an evening of elegant food and fine non-alcoholic libations. The festivities will include butlered hors d'oeuvres, food stations and a standing bar, where Signature Drinks created especially for the show will be served.

Awards based on the decisions of Jurists Gerry Heydt, Judge of Selection, and Charlie Churchill, Judge of Awards, will be presented by show Co-Chairs, Shaun Van Doren, and Andy Calamaras. They include "Best in Show", "Best of Tewksbury", the Marion Katnack Memorial Award - Tewksbury Landscape", plus 1st, 2nd 3rd Place and Honorable Mentions in the categories of Natural Environment, Animal Kingdom, Still Life/Interiors, Florals, Abstraction-Objective, and Built Environment.

Media represented in the show includes oils, acrylics, pastels, watercolors, mixed media collages, etchings, silkscreens, lithographs and photography.

In addition to the Juried Art Works, buyers may also purchase small works and Portfolio items. All of the artworks are submitted by the artists represented in the Show. This is an opportunity to own the work of an artist whose work is "up and coming" at a reasonable price, while supporting THS. The society earns a small percentage of all items sold during the week.

The show continues thru Saturday, Oct. 20.  Public viewing and sale will take place on Saturday, Oct. 12 10 AM-6PM, Sunday, Oct.13, 1-5 PM, Monday thru Thursday, Oct. 14-17, 12-5PM, Friday, Oct. 18, 12-8 PM and Saturday, Oct. 19, 10 AM-3 PM. General Admission tickets are $3.00.
