Earth Day Celebration Apr 25 @ 10:00 am – 2:00 pm Come celebrate Earth Day at High Point State Park on Saturday, April 25 10:00-11:15 am Yoga on the Mountain (indoors: rain or shine) 11:30 am- 2:00 pm Poetry Walk (outdoors: cancelled in case of rain) Come enjoy the beautiful views of High Point State Park while reading poetry outside. What a great way to celebrate Earth Day! Nature related poems, by various famous poets, will be posted around the trees outside the Park Interpretive Center. Poetry for children will be placed on blankets for families to sit and enjoy together. Read as many or as few poems as you want, and at your own pace.

Sunday, May 5  - Pennsauken, Camden County Colonial Earth Day The pre-industrial world had a different relationship with nature and this was especially true in colonial America.  In those crucial days of early settlement, without a worldwide web or electronic communications of any kind, without internal combustion or even steam engines, one’s environment was the farmyard and the wider world was a rumor.  Adapting natural resources, reusing and recycling were as natural as the raising of crops and hunting of game. Bergen County - Allendale - John Fell’s Arrest Reenacted

Sunday, April 28  - Allendale, Bergen County John Fell’s Arrest Reenacted Join the Friends of the Fell House as we host a day of free history and Earth Day oriented events.  At 12:30 and 2:30 pm, the Heard’s Brigade will reenact John Fell’s historic arrest by the British Loyalists on April 22, 1777 and explain its significance.  Eighteenth Century Country dancers will perform and give dance lessons in period correct costumes! There will also be  colonial history activities and Earth Day activities throughout the day. Hours for the event at 11:30 am - 3:30 pm. Saturday, April 20  - Morristown, Morris County Junior Rangers Prepare for Earth Day Kids! Be a part of National Junior Ranger Day - visit the Wick House and use your imagination! Make a poster to help your family and friends understand how Junior Rangers can help others celebrate Earth Day.  Participants will receive a National Junior Ranger Day pin (limited supply). This free program will take place from 1:00 to 4:00 pm and will be held at the Wick House at Jockey Hollow, a unit of Morristown National Historical Park. Saturday, April 20  - Chester, Morris County The Care and Keeping of Rivers On Saturday from 1:00 - 3:00 pm at the Cooper Gristmill, celebrate all things water powered with fun experiments and toys,  in honor of Earth Day . Learn how the Black River runs the machinery today, and discover the life cycles of a river. The gristmill is open from 10:00 am - 5:00 pm. The last guided tour of the gristmill begins at 3:30 pm. The suggested donation to tour the Gristmill is $3 per adult, $2 per senior (65+), and $1 per child age 4 - 16.  FREE per child under age 4, and Friends of Fosterfields and Cooper Mill members with a current membership card.  The Cooper Gristmill is located at 66 Route 513, Chester, NJ.
