Saturday, February 8 - South Bound Brook, Somerset County Tory Jack Day The Friends of Abraham Staats House, Inc., in conjunction with the South Bound Brook Historic Preservation Advisory Commission is proud to present its 18th edition of the award winning "Tory Jack Day" program. The annual event in honor of Black History Month celebrates the contribution and sacrifices of Afro-Americans in the foundation of our nation. This year’s presenters are Joseph Becton and Antoine Watts. Their program, “Music of the Civil War,” illustrates through words and performance the development of this American art form. Mr. Becton, a retired National Park Service Interpretive Park Ranger, has been recognized with the Community Service award for setting a standard of excellence in interpretation and for his role in connecting Americans to our national parks through wonderful stories and varied media. Battle of Bound Brook events, April 13-14

Saturday - Sunday,  April 13  - 14  - South Bound Brook, Somerset County Battle of Bound Brook Join us for an exciting and historic weekend! This two-day program explores the American Revolutionary War during the time-frame of the Battle of Bound Brook and the foraging wars of 1777. Learn about and experience this important period in New Jersey’s and America’s history. Weekend activities include: Saturday: * 10:30 am: First street battle reenactment at the Old Stone Arch Bridge in Bound Brook (near the Queens Bridge). The Loyalist troops attack and push the Patriot Forces in a Retreat up  Bolmer Avenue to the cemetery. *  11:30 - 11:45 am: Ceremony at Old Presbyterian Graveyard next to Bound Brook Memorial Library, 402 E. Sunday,  February 17  - Bridgewater, Somerset County Five Generals Bus Tour of Washington's Middlebrook Cantonment Visit and discover all five existing houses where George Washington, Henry Knox, Baron Von Steuben, Nathaniel Greene, and Lord Alexander were headquartered during the Middlebrook Cantonment of 1778-1779.  The tour will begin at the Van Horne House where guests will enjoy an overview of Middlebrook . Once guests are properly 'schooled' in the importance of the Middlebrook Cantonment of 1778-1779, we will board the buses and head off to:  The Abraham Staats House, The Jacobus Vanderveer House, The Wallace House and the Van Veghten House, ending at the Van Horne House for refreshments in the tavern. Tours are limited to 22 people each tour.  Tours at 10:00 am, 12:00 noon,  1:00 pm, 2:00 pm, and 3:00 pm and last approximately 2.5 hours.
