Tuesday, April 16 – Essex County Price of Liberty Film/Discussion Series: Chisolm '72 Montclair, NJ – Tuesday, April 16 from 7 to 9:30pm. The Montclair History Center, in partnership with Montclair Film, will show Chisolm ‘72 , as the second film in the Montclair History Center’s annual Price of Liberty Film and Discussion series. The film will be shown at Montclair Film’s Cinema505, 505 Bloomfield Avenue, Montclair. Free admission. This documentary follows pioneering politician Shirley Chisholm, the first African-American congresswoman, as she launches a campaign for the United States presidency in the 1972 election, and wins an impressive amount of support, given the era and the still-prevailing prejudices of many voters . The film takes a close look at her presidential run, providing interviews with Chisholm and the dedicated individuals who worked on her groundbreaking campaign.
