Sunday, March 22 – Somerset County LEARN PYSANKY, THE UKRAINIAN ART OF EGG DECORATING, SUNDAY, MARCH 22       On Sunday, March 22 nd  at 11:00 a.m., the Friends of the Jacobus Vanderveer House & Museum will host  a workshop on Pysanky – the Ukrainian art of egg decorating.   Participants will get hands-on experience and decorate their own egg with materials provided by award-winning Pysanky artist Patty Wiszuk-DeAngelo. The workshop will cover division of the egg, drawing of designs, use of kistka, techniques of wax and resist method, the dyeing process, the technique of egg drilling, removing wax, and finishing methods.      Ms. Wiszuk-DeAngelo’s decorated eggs are part of the White House Museum’s collection. She was featured on the Food Network’s  Unwrapped , and she has taught workshops and authored many articles on the art of pysanky over the past 20 years. The three-hour class is $40 per p...

The American Arts & Crafts Chair:  A Message of Honesty & Joy June 1, 2019 -- January 5, 2020 The exhibition will feature thirteen exemplary examples of side chairs by handicraft-oriented furniture manufacturers--among them Gustav Stickley’s Craftsman Workshops, the L&JG Stickley Company, the Charles P. Limbert Company--as well as smaller, craft-oriented workshops such as Charles Rohlfs, the Roycroft Shops, Byrdcliffe Arts Colony, and Rose Valley Association. The exhibition will explore the usefulness and appealing designs of these vital products of the American Arts and Crafts movement, and show how these chairs brought a message of honesty and joy to their makers and their possessors. Wine in a basket! This wine tote has remained a popular favorite. Choose from a single bottle wine basket or a double bottle wine carrying basket each with a new twill accent weave and an oak swing handle. Great for yourself or as a holiday gift! Total cost for registration includes a materials fee and a class fee. Why two fees? The material fee covers the use of everything you need to complete your basket: tools, molds (if needed), reed, handle, etc. The class fee supports the local artisan and the Tuckerton Seaport and Baymen’s Museum  (a non-profit 501c3). All children are welcome to come and enjoy  Rockingham's Annual Children's Day, being held this year on Sunday from 12:00 noon - 5:00 pm.
