Saturday, February 29 – Mercer County African American History in Quilts – The Sankofa Stitchers Meet members of the quilting guild, see their work, and learn about their inspiration in the African American experience      The Trent House Association presents  African American Artistry in Quilts,  a talk by members of the Princeton Sankofa Stitchers Modern Quilt Guild whose work is currently on display at the Trenton City Museum at Ellarslie. Saturday, February 8 – Somerset County Unraveling History: Quilts in the 18 th  & 19 th  Centuries     The Somerset County Society is pleased to announce the first of this year’s History Talks on Saturday, February 8, 2020. Dana Bala, an expert in historic quilts, will present a program on Textiles and Quilts in the 18 th  and 19 th  Centuries from 1:30-3:30 p.m. at the Somerset County Historical Society headquarters in the Van Veghten House, 9 Van Veghten Drive, Bridgewater NJ, 08807.    Ms. Bala will discuss textiles—their cost and production—from the time of the American Revolution, up to the time of the American Civil War, when quilting became a truly American tradition and format for expression. Her program is hands-on: she will bring quilts, fabrics and clothing so that participants can touch the materials, including clothing of the period. S aturday, September 28  - Hopewell Township, Mercer County Quilting  & Quilt Show On Saturday between 10:00 am and 4:00 pm, the Charles Fish Barn at  Howell Living Farm  will become a maze of colorful quilts during this not-to-be-missed exhibit featuring antique and reproduction pieces on loan from area collectors. Throughout the day, visitors of all ages can experience the stages of quilt making from piecing scrap fabric on a treadle-type sewing machine to joining the Farm staff around an antique quilt frame. Howell Living Farm represents a typical farm life between 1890 and 1910. The farm is operated by the Mercer County Parks Commission. It is located at 70 Wooden's Lane, Lambertville, NJ. Saturday-Sunday, June 22-23 – Cape May County Quilt & Fiber Arts Show 10:00 am-4:30 pm at Historic Cold Spring Village Historic Cold Spring Village is featuring fiber arts at the 28th annual Cape May Quilt and Fiber Show, Saturday and Sunday, June 22-23. Sponsored by CAMACO Quilters Guild, the event will be held from 10am until 4:30pm both days and will feature Viewer’s Choice quilt show, speakers, demonstrations, and vendors. On Saturday, visitors may vote for their favorite quilts in the Welcome Center at the Viewer’s Choice Quilt Show or visit the Cold Spring Brewery and vote on their favorite entries. On Sunday continue to enjoy the display and see the winners. S aturday, May 4  - Holmdel, Monmouth County Vintage Base Ball Game & Quilting Demonstration O n Saturday, visit Historic Longstreet Farm in Holmdel  from 11:00 am - 3:00 pm, spend a summer afternoon at Holmdel Park and enjoy one of America’s favorite pastimes to see how it started. Monmouth Furnace Boys (formerly known as the Bog Iron Boys) will be playing vintage base ball, using rules from the 19th century. Players will be dressed in uniforms appropriate to the time period, and the style and terms of the 19th century are used during the game. Now through March 29 – Somerset County Quilt Display at Franklin Library (Somerset)     Franklin Township Public Library is proud to host a  collection of beautiful quilts by the Pieced Together Quilters  through March 29, 2019.       The quilts were designed in response to a “Paint Chip Challenge” in which quilters are given a paint chip and must make a quilt with the colors in the chip, and one other color—either white, cream, or black.    The Pieced Together Quilters offers members opportunities for inspiration, education, and friendship with other quilters, and a chance to share their talents with their local community through their charitable endeavors.     The group meets at the Green Knoll Rescue Squad at 608 North Bridge Street, Bridgewater, NJ. Meetings are from 7:00-9:30 p.m. on the 2 nd  and 4 th  Wednesday of each month from September to June, and once a month during July...
