Sunday, December 1 – Atlantic County WINTER IN THE PINES, BATSTO’S ANNUAL HOLIDAY EVENT -- 12 P.M. - 4 P.M. BATSTO VILLAGE -   Come celebrate the holidays with a glimpse of the past at the annual “Winter in the Pines” event hosted by the Batsto Citizens Committee Inc. (BCCI) on Sunday, December 1, 2019, from 12 noon to 4 p.m.  Centered within the heart of the historic Pinelands village, the afternoon-long event will feature music, carriage rides, holiday treats and special tours of some of Batsto’s original 18th and 19th-century buildings.  The South Jersey Carriage Company will offer  rides aboard their beautiful Victorian designed carriages , which will wind throughout Batsto’s upper village from 12 noon to 3:45 p.m. There is a $3 per person charge for the rides. Two carriages will be operated simultaneously because the rides have become so popular during the holiday event.  Throughout the afternoon,  the Aurora Choir of St. Nicholas Church...

Saturday, June 15 – Atlantic County  Skedaddle Over to Batsto!     The Batsto Citizens Committee, Inc. (BCCI) will host a  Civil War encampment at historic Batsto Village featuring the 12 Th  New Jersey Volunteer Infantry (12 Th  NJVI) ,  Company K, on Saturday, June 15, 2019       The 12 th  NJVI will set up their camp near the entrance to historic Batsto Village and be on the site from 9AM – 3PM.      Visitors to the site will have the opportunity to walk through the encampment and interact with these dedicated and knowledgeable reenactors whose mission is to preserve the heritage & sacrifices of our veterans who fought and lived through the dramatic times of 1862 to 1865.  The original 12th New Jersey regiment; organized at Camp Stockton in Woodbury, New Jersey in 1862, fought in every major battle beginning with The Battle of Chancellorsville (Va.) in 1863. Sunday, May 19 – Burlington County Glass and Gas!    The Batsto Citizens Committee, Inc. is pleased to once again present it's  annual Spring Antique, Glass and Bottle Show on Sunday, May 19 th , 2019. The popular Antique Glass and Bottle Show; held both in the spring and fall, will welcome shoppers beginning at 9AM and continue on until 3 PM. Bottles, glass items, antiques, and collectibles will be available from a variety of vendors. Food and beverages will be available throughout the day.    Glass was an important part of Batsto history. For the last thirty-five years, people from far and wide have brought their old glass and bottles to display and sell at the place where glass was once made in the mid-19 th  century.    If your interest is more in tune with motorized vehicles,  the Cruisin’ Classics Auto Club of Hammonton (NJ) will present its 9 th  annual Shine in the Pines car show  for your enjoyment beginning ...

Saturday, April 27 – Atlantic County Vintage “Base Ball” game at historic Batsto Village  The boys of summer - actually in the tradition of the boys of many summers ago - will take to the diamond at Batsto Village in Wharton State Forest on April 27th for the third annual Vintage Base Ball game. The game begins at 12 noon and there is no admission fee.    Playing this year will be the Hoboken Nine (photo) versus the Bog Brandywine. The teams are part of the Vintage Base Ball Association, a Columbus, Ohio-based organization founded in 1996 which includes more than 200 teams from around the U.S. The mission of the VBBA is to promote the games of “Base Ball” as it was known - and played - during the sports’ formative years in the 19th century. At the April game at Batsto, players - sometimes called ballists - will wear reproduction period uniforms which will consist of either a long trouser and shield shirt or a later-style lace shirt and knickers.  The teams will recre...

The Active Shooter threat is a dynamic, multifaceted problem that requires a multidimensional approach to prevention, response and recovery. Case studies have indicated that shooters often begin planning and preparing for an attack weeks, months and sometimes years in advance. The post-incident consequences for individuals, families, communities and organizations can last for decades.
