Contemporary social, political, and media discourses demonstrate the continued need to evaluate the differing ways that race and identity impact memory in connection to history, trauma, loss, and remembrance. 2019 Annual Conference: Access and Inclusion in Oral History Apr 18 at 8:30 AM – 2:30 PM Apr 19 at 8:30 AM – 2:30 PM Monmouth University 400 Cedar Ave, West Long Branch, New Jersey 07764 We hope to explore the ways in which the oral history community is enabling individuals with unique needs, including but not limited to visual, hearing, mobility, or cognitive challenges, to participate in oral history as both interviewers and narrators. How do we share oral histories, both in brick and mortar archives and on the web, in broadly accessible and inclusive formats? In what ways is the oral history community documenting the disability rights movement and the experience of those with special needs? Who is the audience for such interviews and how do we prioritize levels of accessibility when resources to do so are limited?
