The American Arts & Crafts Chair:  A Message of Honesty & Joy June 1, 2019 -- January 5, 2020 The exhibition will feature thirteen exemplary examples of side chairs by handicraft-oriented furniture manufacturers--among them Gustav Stickley’s Craftsman Workshops, the L&JG Stickley Company, the Charles P. Limbert Company--as well as smaller, craft-oriented workshops such as Charles Rohlfs, the Roycroft Shops, Byrdcliffe Arts Colony, and Rose Valley Association. The exhibition will explore the usefulness and appealing designs of these vital products of the American Arts and Crafts movement, and show how these chairs brought a message of honesty and joy to their makers and their possessors. Saturday, December 7 – Morris County Stickley Holiday Open House 10-4om -- Free      Slow down and treat yourself to the sights, sounds and smells of the season at our Stickley Holiday Open House!     Join us as we suspend tours and welcome visitors to stroll the Log House at their own pace.  Spotlight talks given throughout the day by our volunteer docents will highlight aspects of the Stickley-era holiday traditions, celebrations, and decor, while visitors are invited to make new holiday memories with friends and family. Joining us is jewelry artisan Sheila Fernekes. Fernekes creates contemporary art jewelry using ancient Native American and African bead weaving techniques.  Plan to spend some time strolling through our grounds and visiting our warm and welcoming Holiday Shop at Craftsman Farms, where you can unwind, relax, and recapture the joy of the holiday season choosing a simple treasure for yourself or someone you love.

Saturday, November 2 – Morris County The Stickley Museum at Craftsman Farms presents Farms Afield: Mount Tabor     This fall, as Mount Tabor celebrates its 150th Anniversary year, enjoy a morning with a guided tour of historic Mount Tabor, starting with an introduction to the history of this camp meeting inside the large octagonal Tabernacle, a walking tour of Trinity Park, and a visit to the Richardson History House, a cottage museum. Founded in 1869, the Mount Tabor Historic District embodies the distinctive characteristics of a permanent Methodist Camp Meeting Ground that evolved into a summer residential community. Particularly notable is the architecture of the early camp meeting Stick-Style and Gothic Revival-influenced cottages with their prominent steep gables, open porches, and elaborate gingerbread embellishments. Saturday, October 12 9th Annual Scholars Symposium  will be on Saturday, October 12,2019 from 9:30am-2pm at the Stickley Museum at Craftsman Farms. It will feature a tour with David Cathers, followed by lunch, and a hardhat tour of our new Education Center. The Craftsman Gala will follow at 6pm at the Mountain Lakes Club. Explore the Log House at Craftsman Farms, Gustav Stickley’s rustic country estate and a National Historic Landmark. Largely restored to its 1910 - 1917 appearance. The Log House at Craftsman Farms is the only home Stickley designed and built for his own use. Saturday, December 1 – Morris County      The annual Holly Day (formerly Holly Walk) is a showcase of historic sites in Morris County, all decorated for the holidays. In 2017, visitors enjoyed unique holiday programs at Acorn Hall, Macculloch Hall, the Ford Mansion, the Museum of Early Trades & Crafts, the Schuyler-Hamilton House and the Stickley Museum at Craftsman Farms. The event is held the first Saturday of December. An annual and beloved Morris County tradition, Holly Day returns for this upcoming holiday season. Visit six local historical sites decorated for the holidays, each site with special Holly Day programming: exhibits, music, refreshments and more.
