Member Miniatures: big ART in small packages 2020 January 18, 2020 – March 15, 2020 Opening Reception:   Saturday, January 18th, 2020 from 5 – 7 pm Museum Statement: Since 2015, the Monmouth Museum has celebrated our Artist Members by hosting an art exhibition in our Nilson and Hallway Galleries. The show has always been an excellent opportunity for our members to show off their talent and creativity in small formats. In 2020, we are continuing the tradition of exhibiting member artwork in an exclusive show once again. As a show of miniatures, we will be exhibiting artwork no bigger than 12″x12″ when framed. 41st Annual Juried Art Exhibition January 18, 2020 – March 15, 2020 Opening Reception and Awards Ceremony : Saturday, January 18th, 2020 from 5:00 – 7:00 pm Museum Statement: Since the Annual Juried Art Exhibition was founded by the Monmouth County Arts Council in 1979, the exhibition has been presented at the Monmouth Museum. In 2011 the Monmouth Museum assumed complete sponsorship of the exhibition. The same year, the museum expanded the call for entries to be international. As a result, the Annual Juried Art Exhibition has become a refreshing representation of creative talent from around the world. Alongside local New Jersey artists, the Annual Juried Art Exhibition has included artists from Japan, Russia, Lithuania, Israel, and Germany. This year, the Monmouth Museum presents the 41st Annual Juried Art Exhibition. When working together we can become effective artists and contribute to our Museum community These rocks will be placed in the Meyer Art & Nature Area and left for all to see and read. Each participant will take a rock in the Green Arts Studio and write words and/or draw pictures of kindness in their rock. The goal is to leave hopeful or encouraging thoughts for others who need a word to brighten their day. These creations will spread a little joy and inspiration to anyone who visits our garden.

Kate Eggleston: Still Deep October 18 – November 17, 2019 Opening Reception: October 18th, 6:00 – 8:00 pm, IMAGE:  Islands of Me Artist Statement: ” I am an interdisciplinary fiber artist focusing on hand-dyed textiles, soft sculpture, and stitch work.  Still Deep  is a sculptural exploration of adaptation. This collection of work, spanning the last two years, touches on the anxieties of balancing my home life and studio practice. I challenged myself to create work that is outside of my comfort zone. I experimented with concept of abstract sculptural landscapes while still maintaining my point of view. It began with  Islands of Me , a series of hand-dyed soft sculptures resembling abstract landforms dotted with spiky blue flora which calmly scud across the sky like indigo clouds. I paint and draw from both direct observation and my own invention. My process involves the grinding and mixing of pigments then layering these colors with varying degrees of abstraction and realism. This method progresses by continually adding weight and subtracting elements of the human form until the image starts to reveal itself. Artist Gallery Talk  Susu Pianchupattana: Inseparable Wednesday, September 25, 2019 Susu Pianchupattana  was born and raised in Bangkok city, Thailand and came to New York to study painting in the Fall of 2002. After graduating from the New York Studio School, she was granted an O1 artist visa on the merit of her accomplishments and had her first solo show at the Robert Steele Gallery in Chelsea in 2008. The following years saw Susu split her time between Bangkok and the United States; continuing to establish her work while living in NYC, Los Angeles, CA and Nashville, TN. Artist Gallery Talk and Book Signing Stephen Barnwell: Captial Offenses Wednesday, August 21, 2019 My technique for creating this body of work is digital collage. I assemble quite large collages in Photoshop from scans of original, public-domain engravings from my collection of hundreds of vintage books and periodicals from the late 19 th  century. My style of collage is one that does not look like a collage, but rather a seamless, unified image. This requires spending hours upon hours searching for each individual element in the work, which often comprises hundreds of elements, to find not just an appropriate image, but one that is compatible with the total collage. These elements are scanned at a very high resolution, cleaned, resized and manipulated, and then added to the final assemblage. They are printed on my own high-resolution color laser printer, one at a time, with unique serial numbers. I also like to add multimedia elements to the prints, such as stickers, stamps, seals...
