The Charles Addams Walking Tour - 2 dates: Sunday, October 20 and Sunday, October 27 (3-5pm).


    Join local architect Greg Blasi on a walking tour past Charles Addams’ home, his favorite haunts, and the house said to have inspired his Addams Family creations. Hosted by the Westfield Historical Society. Two tour times are available (rain or shine): Sunday, October 20th from 3-5pm and Sunday, October 27th from 3-5pm. Tour begins at the corner of Lawrence Avenue and Dudley Avenue.

    Please meet architect and Westfield Historical Society Trustee Greg Blasi at 3pm at the corner of Dudley & Lawrence. Tour cost is $5 for Westfield Historical Society members and $10 for non-members. Advance reservations and payment are required. Space is limited, so register soon. Names will be checked at the start of the tour. Register/Pay online at this link.

Sunday, June 9 – Somerset County Save the Date for a visit with an  18th-Century Surgeon-Dentist      Let us be clear: George Washington did not have wooden teeth. However, he did have dental problems through most of his adult life, as did many 18th-century folk of both high and low social class. There were no regular visits to dentists, with tooth brushing and flossing in between at that time.  There weren't even dentists as we know them today. Dentistry was only just evolving as a separate profession through the eighteenth century. Barber-surgeons or surgeon-dentists provided many more services than our modern dentists. Toothbrushes were somewhat new, but rare for most people to use or even own.
