Trompe l'oeil One-Day Workshop with Lisa Walsh

Saturday, February 23 from 10:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.
$65; $55 for members of either Morven or Arts Council of Princeton

Open to artists of all skill levels, this one-day workshop explores the art of trompe l’oeil with professional muralist and trompe l’oeil artist Lisa Walsh. Students will create their own single session piece of artwork.

Materials list to bring to class: Acrylic paint in an assortment of colors, brushes, and a gessoed masonite panel to work on (recommend: Ampersand Value Series Artist Panels, primed smooth finish, 7/8" thick, 10" x 10" available at Jerry's Artarama, usual cost $8-10 per panel) Register here.

Sunday, June 9 – Somerset County Save the Date for a visit with an  18th-Century Surgeon-Dentist      Let us be clear: George Washington did not have wooden teeth. However, he did have dental problems through most of his adult life, as did many 18th-century folk of both high and low social class. There were no regular visits to dentists, with tooth brushing and flossing in between at that time.  There weren't even dentists as we know them today. Dentistry was only just evolving as a separate profession through the eighteenth century. Barber-surgeons or surgeon-dentists provided many more services than our modern dentists. Toothbrushes were somewhat new, but rare for most people to use or even own.
