APHS Presents World War I Program

This year marks the 100th Anniversary of the entrance of the United States into World War I, also called “The Great War”, and “The War to End All Wars”.

At 3 PM on Sunday, November 11, “Veterans/Armistice Day”, the Asbury Park Historical Society will present a program at the Asbury Park Public Library at 500 First Avenue to commemorate this anniversary.

After a discussion led by Historical Museum of Ocean Township Trustee Peggy Dellinger about the war and its impact on this area, the society will screen the 1930 Best Picture Academy Award winner “All Quiet on the Western Front”- based upon the great novel by Erich Maria Remarque.

The film is 2 hr. 13 minutes and stars a 21-year old Lew Ayres. Light refreshments will be available. Donations for the Asbury Park Historical Society will be appreciated.
