Hunterdon County - Clinton - Blacksmith Hammer-In

We are hosting our annual Blacksmith Hammer-In, in partnership with the New Jersey Blacksmith Association, from 10am-4pm on Saturday, August 24th.  Tailgating, tool swaps, and demonstrations will be ongoing throughout the day and there will be an opportunity to win prizes at an “iron in the hat” raffle drawing.  Have an odd item you’d like a blacksmith to identify?  Bring it in!  New this year: our blacksmiths will be offering one-on-one lessons from 9am-12pm.  Participants must be age 12 or older to take a lesson and will complete a coat hook project to take home.  Lessons are $25 for half an hour and must be reserved in advance – contact assistant director Marie Salthouse at programs@theredmill.org or 908-735-4101×100 to register.  At noon our main forge will switch over from lessons to NJBA demonstrations, but demos will be available throughout the property all day.  Visitors can help us raise money for the #SavetheWheel campaign by purchasing a metal dog tag that one of our blacksmiths will personalize just for you!  Burgers, hotdogs, and fixing will be available to NJBA members.  Not a member?  Registration to join NJBA will be available that day.  Regular museum admission, free for Museum members.
