Parade of Lights Scheduled for Saturday August 11, 2018

4TH ANNUAL PARADE OF LIGHTS

Pirates Care is proud to host the 4th annual Parade of Lights on Saturday, August 11, 2018,  to raise funds for local humanitarian and environmental causes.

This Year we will again be helping the children at the Valerie Fund Centers by having the children in treatment fill out a wish list with something that can make their treatments a little more tolerable.

This year we will also try to raise enough funds to provide a media viewing system to be placed in the treatment rooms so that the children can watch their favorite shows while undergoing their infusions.

No one is prepared for dealing with cancer and the related issues that follow, let alone the children. So we at Pirates Care are doing what we can to make their life and treatments a little easier to deal with.
This year we will also be helping with the American Littoral Society and their Operation Oyster: Two Rivers and their efforts to bring oysters back to the Navesink and Shrewsbury Rivers. This includes community outreach, education, and research into the viability of oysters in the rivers. The American Littoral Society also work with local schools in Rumson and Red Bank to educate students about the importance of their natural resources and the importance of oysters in the rivers. Finally, we partner with residents who own property on the river to hang bags of shells to attract natural spat already in the rivers.

This year Pirates Care is looking to sponsor as many bags as we can to help in their efforts. We would also like anyone who owns riverfront property, including marinas, that would like to part of this effort and allow bags to be placed at their docks to please contact us and we will do what we can to get you on the partner list.

Last year Pirates Care, with your help, donated to the Key West Relief and St John relief funds to help in the aftermath of devastating hurricanes. We donated to the Marine Mammal Stranding Center, paid for 200-holiday meals through the food bank and we filled all of the children wish lists at the Valerie Center along with providing toys and needed items for their holiday toy drive.

This year with the Parade of Lights in August, better weather, an earlier sunset, and a high tide, may help us to attract more boats to participate. This is a fun night for some good causes but, we can’t do this alone and we need your help.

If you would like to become a sponsor of Pirates Care you can email us at piratescarenj@gmail.com.
