Westfield Historical Society First Wednesday Luncheon – The Watchung Reservation: Our Forest Treasure

As part of the Westfield Historical Society’s First Wednesday Luncheon series, Ann DeCamp, Billy Toth, and Charles Weltner will present a talk on The Watchung Reservation: Our Forest Treasure on June 6, 2018. The event will begin at 11:45 AM at the Echo Lake Country Club, located at 515 Springfield Avenue, Westfield.

The Watchung Reservation is an oasis in the densely populated Union County. It was designed nearly 100 years ago by the Olmsted Brothers as a link in the chain of county parks throughout Union County and is the largest forested Union County Park. Ann, Billy, and Charles have become three of the many stewards who have helped face obstacles to the preservation of this forested gem and the natural resources that it holds. They will outline their journey in acting to preserve the forest and wildlife of the Watchung Reservation including their recent success in helping to prevent mountain biking through the forest trails.

Those wishing to attend the luncheon may make a reservation by calling or emailing Carol at 908-654-1794; westfieldhistoricalsociety@gmail.com. Payment must be received by noon Friday, June 1st, 2018. Please indicate if there are special dietary instructions. The luncheon fee of $35 (WHS members) or $40 (non-members) includes a three-course meal, coffee/tea, and gratuity. The luncheon fee may be mailed to Westfield Historical Society, P.O. Box 613, Westfield, NJ 07091; or paid online at www.westfieldhistoricalsociety.org. Westfield Historical Society memberships will also be available at the luncheon.
