Kingsland Manor Offers a Floral Design Class
10 am – 12 pm
 Join us for a fun-filled educational event at the Kingsland Manor!

This class will introduce you to the creative world of floral design using New Jersey grown flowers. You'll learn the basic elements and principles of floral design and leave with a beautiful arrangement worth $85 in a shop along with the knowledge you need to create your own designs.
 Coffee, doughnuts, and fruit will be provided.

 Space is limited to the first 20 who register. Once the seats are sold out, we encourage you to put your name on a waiting list in case a spot opens up. Those who remain on the waiting list will be contacted if the workshop is offered again.

 When: Saturday, June 23rd, 10 am to 12 pm
Where: The Kingsland Manor at 3 Kingsland Street
Cost: $45 per person (includes instruction, all floral materials, and refreshments)
About the teacher: Janet J. Corrao, AIFD, CFD, is a certified floral designer and the former owner of Kingsland & Franklin Florals. Her stunning arrangements have graced numerous Kingsland Manor events. Janet is also a Master Gardener and is restoring the Kingsland Manor's garden to a historically accurate colonial herb and flower garden.

Sunday, June 9 – Somerset County Save the Date for a visit with an  18th-Century Surgeon-Dentist      Let us be clear: George Washington did not have wooden teeth. However, he did have dental problems through most of his adult life, as did many 18th-century folk of both high and low social class. There were no regular visits to dentists, with tooth brushing and flossing in between at that time.  There weren't even dentists as we know them today. Dentistry was only just evolving as a separate profession through the eighteenth century. Barber-surgeons or surgeon-dentists provided many more services than our modern dentists. Toothbrushes were somewhat new, but rare for most people to use or even own.
