QUILT AND FIBER ARTS SHOW AT HISTORIC COLD SPRING VILLAGE, JUNE 23-24

Historic Cold Spring Village is featuring fiber arts at the 27th annual Cape May Quilt and Fiber Show, Saturday and Sunday, June 23-24. Sponsored by Chris Clemans and Camaco Quilters Guild, the event will be held from 10am until 4:30pm both days and will feature Viewer’s Choice quilt show, speakers, demonstrations, and vendors.

On Saturday, visitors may vote for their favorite quilts in the Welcome Center at the Viewer’s Choice Quilt Show or visit the Cold Spring Brewery to see the Patriotic Banner entries. On Sunday continue to enjoy the display and see the winners.  

At Marshallville Schoolhouse visit the Old Glory Quilt Exhibit: curated by Mary Kerr. Sponsored by the Quilts of Valor Program. These quilts were debuted at the 2017 Quilts of Valor show and will continue to travel through the U.S.A as a collection for 18-24 months. When they are done traveling, the quilts will be auctioned to raise funds for Quilts of Valor. The Quilts of Valor program focuses on patriotic heritage in Cape May County. They will award quilts to local veterans at 11am on Saturday, June 23rd.

Demonstrations of 19th century garment construction throughout the day by Sandra Grant. Speaker Sue Reich will discuss quilts from the War Years. Sat WWI and Sunday WWII. Merry May will speak on the history of local quilts, see hcsv.org for times.

             A rare wedding quilt, c. 1714, handmade by Cape May Countian Sarah Spicer, will be on display in the Welcome Center for its annual appearance. The quilt was restored in 2012 through a grant from the Cape May County Culture and Heritage Commission.

Shop for quilting and sewing fabrics, supplies, and equipment to help inspire the creation of an heirloom project with regional vendors.  Visit with the Embroiderer’s Guild of America, Jersey Cape Atlantic Chapter. Quilts of Valor and Ryan’s Case for Smiles will demonstrate as well.  

The Village is located on Route 9, three miles north of Victorian Cape May and a mile and a half west of the southern terminus of the Garden State Parkway. Admission during the season is $14 for adults and $12 for children ages 3 to 12. Children under 3 are admitted free.
