Death & Disease In The Continental Army

Throughout the American Revolution, almost three times more soldiers died from disease and illness than on the battlefield. Learn about diseases, their transmission, and their treatment in the Continental Army. Find out why soldiers had more to fear from disease, than British musketballs, grapeshot, or the dreaded bayonet!

This free program will take place at 1:00, 2:00 and 3:00 pm and will be held in the Visitor Center at Jockey Hollow, a unit of Morristown National Historical Park. Saturday, June 29  - Burlington Township, Burlington County Historic West Hill Manor  220th Anniversary Historic West Hill Manor will celebrate its 220th Anniversary on Saturday from 12:00 noon - 4:00 pm.  Talk to Colonial soldiers about their life on the march and in battle. Learn to make your own ice cream and how to use a spinning wheel. The kids will enjoy our new Toy Room and play with toys from the past. Our handmade dollhouse will also be on display. At 3:00 pm, there will be a special presentation on Freemasonry and The Underground Railroad.  Admission is $10 per adult and $5 per child under 12.
