MORE DETAILS:  This spooktacular evening presented by Middletown Recreation, the Middletown Township Cultural Arts Council and the Middletown Township Education Association includes costume parades, contests, cartooning with the Doodle Dude, hayrides (not-so-scary and haunted) and more! Be sure to bring a flashlight!
New this year: Trunk or Treat! The Murray Farm House: Instructors will be on hand demonstrating our old cider press to make fresh cider. We also will be offering tours of the farm house and barn. 5:00pm: Festival opens 5:30pm: Costume Parade leading into the Trunk Or Treat area 6:00pm: Costume Contest (ages 12 and under) 8:00pm: Festival closes A limited number of free trunk or treat bags will be available. Limited parking is available at Poricy Park.

Sunday, June 9 – Somerset County Save the Date for a visit with an  18th-Century Surgeon-Dentist      Let us be clear: George Washington did not have wooden teeth. However, he did have dental problems through most of his adult life, as did many 18th-century folk of both high and low social class. There were no regular visits to dentists, with tooth brushing and flossing in between at that time.  There weren't even dentists as we know them today. Dentistry was only just evolving as a separate profession through the eighteenth century. Barber-surgeons or surgeon-dentists provided many more services than our modern dentists. Toothbrushes were somewhat new, but rare for most people to use or even own.
