LACEY TOWNSHIP, NJ - The Lacey Township Historical Society will present "The Titanic and the Halifax Connection" at 7 p.m. on July 18 free at their general meeting. All are welcome!
The city of Halifax, Nova Scotia made a valiant effort to recover the bodies of Titanic victims after the devastating nautical disaster back in April of 1912.
Titanic historian Sandy Gray will discuss the retrieval process, personal stories, and other intriguing facts during the presentation. Ms. Gray has also visited the site where many of the victims are buried and can give a first-hand witness of the sites. The presentation will include a slideshow.
The “unsinkable” Titanic a British passenger liner, sank on April 15, 1912, after striking an iceberg in the North Atlantic during its maiden voyage. It was considered to be of the highest luxury and comfort.
No reservations are required. The Historical Society is located at 126 South Main Street, Route 9, behind Mrs. Walker’s Ice Cream shop in Forked River.
