Waterloo Canal Heritage Day

Come to visit Waterloo Village between 10:00 am and 4:00 pm for a day in this historic Morris Canal town. Enjoy boat rides on the Morris Canal, Smith's Store - a furnished canal-era store with hands-on activities, blacksmithing, see the operating gristmill, the seamstress shop, carpenter's shop, the Canal Museum - with exhibits and videos, and guided walking tours of the village. Who Are The People In Your Neighborhood? Community Asset Mapping A half day workshop that will be presented by NJ Volunteer Organizations Active After a Disaster (NJVOAD) for NJCAR. Many community organizations focus on the needs or deficits of the community. Every community has needs and deficits that nonprofit organizations should attend to. Nevertheless, it is also possible to focus on assets and strengths -- emphasizing what the community does have, not what it does not. Those assets and strengths can be used to meet those same community needs; they can improve community life. To draw upon a community's assets, we first have to find out what they are. So in this workshop, we will focus on identifying community assets and resources. We will also show how they can be harnessed to meet community needs and to strengthen the community as a whole. Saturday, June 23 – Sussex County 2018 Summer Concert Series , 6:00 pm-8:00 pm www.friendsofhighpointstatepark.org The Friends of High Point State Park invite you to join them this summer for three magical evenings of music in the park.  Bring your family and friends to High Point State Park for a day of fun, then stay for a fabulous concert on the beach at Lake Marcia. Spread a blanket out on the grass. Bring a camp chair and enjoy a picnic supper. Dance barefooted in the sand. Summer nights were made for music under the setting sun!    Admission to the summer concert series at High Point State Park is FREE, but donations of $5 or more per adult are greatly appreciated.   Please stop by the Friends of HPSP table to make your donation and purchase souvenirs.
