Middlesex County - Monroe Twp - "Finding Uncle Harry"

Tuesday, July 10 and Wednesday, July 18 – Middlesex County

The American Jewish Experience Lecture Series, presented by the Jewish Historical Society of Central Jersey, continues for its 21st consecutive year with a presentation by Jack Feinstein, entitled, "Finding Uncle Harry." Jack Feinstein was five years old when his great uncle Harry came from London on the SS Queen Elizabeth in 1948 to visit his two daughters who had married US servicemen at the end of WWII. Some 20 years ago he started his search to find the sisters only knowing they had settled in California. His presentation will discuss the outcome of his quest and what others can learn from his experience.

The lecture will be held on Tuesday, July 10th, at 10:00 a.m. at Jewish Family Services, 52 Concordia Shopping Center, Monroe Township. Jack Feinstein is a 1965 graduate of the City College of New York with a BE degree in Electrical Engineering. He is a registered Professional Engineer (retired) in the State of New Jersey and a senior life member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE).

He has been active in researching his family’s genealogy for many years and has produced two videos, one documenting the lives of his maternal great-grandparents and their children (his grandmother and her 8 siblings) and another video documenting the lives of his maternal grandparents, their children and grandchildren. His research also resulted in finding the family of his father’s uncle who settled in London prior to WWI. He has made presentations about this
adventure and one about the difficulties encountered in identifying 3rd cousins.

Jack is a member of the Genealogy Club of Central Jersey in Highland Park and the Mercer County Genealogy Society in East Windsor.

The lecture will be repeated on Wednesday, July 18th, at 10:30 a.m. at the Highland Park Conservative Temple, 201 South 3rd Avenue, Highland Park.  Both lectures are open to the public. A donation of $2.00 is requested at the door. For more information call the JHSCJ office at 732-249-4894 or email at INFO.JHSCJ@gmail.com.
