What was lifelike for women in the era of the American Revolution? Join us to find out from the editor and an author of an essay on Morven’s Annis Boudinot Stockton in the recently released Women in the American Revolution: Gender, Politics, and the Domestic World. Editor Barbara B. Oberg, Senior Research Scholar in the Department of History at Princeton University, will provide insights into the book’s creation as well as how the essays enrich our understanding of women in the Revolution beyond traditional narratives. Martha King, Senior Editor, Papers of Thomas Jefferson at Princeton University Library, will give a short talk on Annis Boudinot Stockton, based on her essay in the book. The book’s essays focus on individuals (Sarah Bache, Phillis Wheatley) as well as the impact of war on social or commercial interactions between men and women. The book will be available for purchase and signing. Light refreshments provided.
