New Jersey’s nautical history is ripe with legends of pirate treasure, sea battles and other swashbuckling adventures. But which are tall tales and which are true?
Find out by sailing along with Atlantic Highlands Historical Society for a Jersey Journey on local waters Sunday, Sept. 23 (rain date Sunday Sept. 30). Our three-hour cruise will feature expert narrator Joe Reynolds, who will help passengers brush up on pirate lingo.
A light meal will be offered, along with a cash bar. Departure is at 1 p.m. sharp with Capt.
Dan Schade on Classic Boat Rides’ Mariner, a 40-passenger, open-air wooden boat. It’s docked at Atlantic Highlands Marina, Pier 1, Slip 5. Latecomers will be forced to walk the plank.

Saturday, June 29  - Burlington Township, Burlington County Historic West Hill Manor  220th Anniversary Historic West Hill Manor will celebrate its 220th Anniversary on Saturday from 12:00 noon - 4:00 pm.  Talk to Colonial soldiers about their life on the march and in battle. Learn to make your own ice cream and how to use a spinning wheel. The kids will enjoy our new Toy Room and play with toys from the past. Our handmade dollhouse will also be on display. At 3:00 pm, there will be a special presentation on Freemasonry and The Underground Railroad.  Admission is $10 per adult and $5 per child under 12. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, The Owen Coachman House incorporates a c. 1700 “Whalers Cottage” - one of the oldest surviving structures in Cape May County. It was moved to this site in 1846 by Owen Coachman, a free black man who purchased land here for a farm. A tour of this site brings to life the important story of our county’s free African American community in the years before the Civil War.  Admission is $10 per adult and  children (ages 3-12) $5 .
