Open mic event at the Trent House in honor of Yusef Komunyakaa

The William Trent House Museum is pleased to present an open mic poetry event honoring Mr. Komunyakaa, hosted by Todd Evans who will introduce Mr. Komuyakaa and other readers. This free event is open to poets and spoken word artists of all ages and to all those who appreciate the power of words.

Since the publication of his first book in 1977, Yosef Komunyakaa has written poetry influenced by jazz and the blues, exploring the experiences of African Americans through his life as a child in Louisiana, as a soldier in Vietnam, and as a man living and working in New Jersey and New York. Winner of numerous prizes for his work, he now lives in Trenton and New York, and is on the faculty at New York University.

This is a rain or shine event with ample free parking. Free to the public, poets and spoken word artists of all ages, with light refreshments provided.
