DAVID O. STEWART, HISTORIAN & AUTHOR, TO SPEAK AT THE PRINCETON BATTLEFIELD SOCIETY’S FEBRUARY 21
“WASHINGTON BIRTHDAY EDUCATIONAL FORUM”
Bestselling author David O. Stewart will be the featured speaker at the February 21, 2020, George Washington Educational Forum at The Conference Center at Mercer County Community College. “George Washington: America’s Master Politician” will be the focus of his presentation, which will begin at 7 pm, followed by a “Washington Birthday Cake” and refreshments.
“Having served longer as a legislator than as a soldier,” Mr. Stewart remarked, “and having spent six years as a county court judge, Washington developed his political skills in Virginia colonial politics, honed them as commander-in-chief of the Continental Army, then displayed them fully with his masterful leadership in the creation and ratification of the Constitution.” And parenthetically, “In the political sphere, he was much more than a tall, athletic man who married a rich woman.”
Mr. Stewart is currently writing a book on George Washington, which has a working title of “America’s Master Politician: How George Washington Became George Washington.” Other historical books have included “The Summer of 1787: The Men Who Invented the Constitution,” “Madison’s Gift: Five Partnerships that Built America,” and “Impeached: The Trial of President Andrew Johnson and the Fight for Lincoln’s Legacy.” His histories have won the Washington Writing Award, the History Prize of the Society of the Cincinnati, and the William H. Prescott Ward of the National Society of Colonial Dames of America.
