VISIT ACORN HALL, SET FESTIVELY FOR CHRISTMAS
MORRISTOWN, NJ – At Acorn Hall, trees are trimmed and the Dining Room table is set with sparkling crystal – it’s that time of year again! Morris County Historical Society has, once again, elegantly decorated Acorn Hall with all the festivities of the season and we’re ready and waiting for holiday revelers.
This year the festive decorations mingle with almost 70 mounted garments featured as part of Iconic Culture: From Little Black Dress to Bell Bottoms. Our largest textile exhibition ever, garments represent some of our finest holdings, 1920-1979, complemented with winter coats from the collection. Sure to get you in the mood for the holidays, decorations additionally pay homage to the period of the garments in the various rooms, further immersing guests in the reflective nature of the exhibit. Join the 1920s flappers as they prepare for their night dancing or celebrate with the family of the 1950s as they find their surprises under the tree, or, like the Peanuts clan, realize that Charlie Brown’s tree wasn’t so bad after all.
While Iconic Culture will be on display until the spring, Acorn Hall’s annual Christmas Celebration will only be on view Dec. 1, Holly Day, through January 6th, 2019.
MCHS is located at Acorn Hall, 68 Morris Avenue, Morristown, and is open Wednesdays and Thursdays, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Sundays, 1-4 p.m. Admission, which includes the exhibits and landscaped grounds, is $6 for adults, $5 for seniors, $3 for students, and is free for children under 12 and MCHS members. For more information, call MCHS at 973-267-3465 or visit the MCHS website: MorrisCountyHistory.org.
