Sharing Untold Stories -- Crossroads Professional Development Conference
January 24, 2020
Crossroads of the American Revolution is pleased to offer our Heritage Partners an advance opportunity to register for Sharing Untold Stories, our next Professional Development Conference, to be held on January 24, 2020, at Morven Museum & Garden's new state-of-the-art Stockton Education Center in Princeton, NJ. This session is co-sponsored by the NJ Historical Commission and Morven.
This workshop will give you the tools needed to address visitor questions and interests in complex parts of your site's background, including personal histories and a deeper understanding of the people who worked and lived there. Small group discussions will help you discover ways to help visitors, volunteers, and staff broaden their understanding of your site's historic tapestry.
You'll learn from experts in the field who've researched and developed inclusive interpretive programming that has attracted new visitors and given past visitors a reason to return to historic sites. They include:
- Aleia Brown, Assistant Director of the African American History, Culture, and Digital Humanities Initiative at the University of Maryland
- Elizabeth G. Allan, Deputy Director & Curator, Morven Museum & Garden
- R. Isabela Morales, Ph.D., Editor and Project Manager, Princeton & Slavery Project
- Jane M. Eliasof, Executive Director, Montclair History Center
The $30 registration fee includes the program and participant activities, arrival refreshments, lunch and an opportunity to tour Morven and its current exhibition, "Dreaming of Utopia: Roosevelt, New Jersey."
Plus, you'll leave with resources to refer to as you work to broaden and deepen the story your site shares with visitors.
Reserve your spot by December 13 for special Crossroads Heritage Partner pricing!
Registration will open to the general public on December 14. The event will be limited to 64 participants.
