Through storytelling about the colorful and memorable figures of the 19th-century American stage, John Rogers will describe a period of time in entertainment that connected popular culture with patriotism, the country’s values, and its “growing pains.” We will learn of the intense rivalry in artistic endeavors between the United States and England, the uniquely American contribution to arts known as Musical Comedy and the coming of culture to the Wild West.
John Rogers is currently enjoying an “Encore Career” as an actor-educator in the New Jersey Mental Health Players and doing background work on television and film.
