Drive on down to Tuckerton Seaport on Saturday, September 21 for the Annual Classic & Antique Car and Truck Show, hosted in conjunction with the Vintage Auto Museum of New Jersey. Over 100 antique and classic cars and trucks will be on display, with judging and an awards ceremony rounding out the afternoon. Prizes will include door prizes, special awards, and club participation award. View cars premiering for the first time. Contact Ann at thestabiles@comcast.net  to enter the show or call Ann at 732-255-4879 for more information. You can also register the day of the show beginning at 8amand ending at 11am. The registration fee is $15 in advance, $20 day of show (pre-registration is highly recommended). Awards will be presented at 2:30 pm.

Admission to the show is $5. Children under 5 and Seaport members are admitted for free. Event admission includes access to the Seaport’s 40 acres of family fun, featuring maritime activities, historic and recreated buildings, live animals, a boardwalk, miniature golf course, and exhibits. This event is supported in part by a grant from New Jersey Department of State, Division of Travel and Tourism, www.visitnj.org.

Sunday, June 9 – Somerset County Save the Date for a visit with an  18th-Century Surgeon-Dentist      Let us be clear: George Washington did not have wooden teeth. However, he did have dental problems through most of his adult life, as did many 18th-century folk of both high and low social class. There were no regular visits to dentists, with tooth brushing and flossing in between at that time.  There weren't even dentists as we know them today. Dentistry was only just evolving as a separate profession through the eighteenth century. Barber-surgeons or surgeon-dentists provided many more services than our modern dentists. Toothbrushes were somewhat new, but rare for most people to use or even own.
