Morris County - Chatham - Fishawack Festival

Saturday, June 8 – Morris County

Fishawack Festival
Saturday June 8, 10 am–4 pm Chatham Borough Town Center

We will be honoring Madame Bey and her Training Camp for boxers. From 1923-1945 Bey attracted numerous boxing champions to her River Road facility.

When she died in 1945, she was buried next to her husband in Fairmount Cemetery, but the couple’s grave was never marked with a headstone. The Historical Society is now raising funds to provide one.

At the booth we will have a display highlighting Bey and the training camps of Chatham Township. We will also have Gene Pantalone’s book Madame Bey’s: Home of Boxing Legends for sale. Thanks to Gene, the proceeds from the sale will go to the headstone fund.

If you would like to contribute to Madame Bey’s headstone, please send a check to the Chatham Township Historical Society, P.O. Box 262, Chatham, NJ 077928.
