Lacey Historical Society’s Flea Market

Lacey Historical Society’s Flea Market returns on Friday, June 28th and Saturday, June 29th.

Sales open both days at 8:00am and continue to 3:00pm. You never know what you’ll find at the flea market! The event takes place in front of the Lacey Old Schoolhouse Museum, 126 South Main Street, right next door to Mrs. Walker’s Ice Cream Parlor. Personal guided tours of the Schoolhouse will be conducted 10am through Noon. Bring the kids and tell your friends. Thanks for your interest and for supporting our local history.

Vendor tables are still available. To obtain your space please call Steve, (215) 287-5552 or e-mail laceytwphistoricalsociety@gmail.com for a detailed reservation form. Vendor setup begins at 7:00 a.m. Sales space is currently available for $25 one day and $40 for both days. Bring your own table and the fee is $20 for one day and $30 for both days.

Sunday, June 9 – Somerset County Save the Date for a visit with an  18th-Century Surgeon-Dentist      Let us be clear: George Washington did not have wooden teeth. However, he did have dental problems through most of his adult life, as did many 18th-century folk of both high and low social class. There were no regular visits to dentists, with tooth brushing and flossing in between at that time.  There weren't even dentists as we know them today. Dentistry was only just evolving as a separate profession through the eighteenth century. Barber-surgeons or surgeon-dentists provided many more services than our modern dentists. Toothbrushes were somewhat new, but rare for most people to use or even own.
