SPRING LAKE HISTORICAL SOCIETY'S 40TH ANNUAL HOUSE TOUR
THURSDAY, JUNE 6, 2019

     Beautiful, historic Spring Lake is a year-round community that welcomes a large influx of visitors during the summer months. The town boasts of a quaint downtown area with small shops and restaurants. It is also well known for a variety of charming historic homes, lovely bed and breakfast inns and its two-mile non-commercial boardwalk along a beautiful sand beach.

    On Thursday, June 6, 2019 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. the Spring Lake Historical Society will hold its 40th annual House Tour. The tour will feature six homes and four historic buildings, including the Historical Society Museum displaying both the permanent collection and changing exhibits.

Reservations for the tour can be made by calling 732-449-0772. If necessary, leave a message at the museum and the office manager will get back ASAP. Tickets will also be available on the day of the tour for $40 at the Spring Lake Train Station on Warren Avenue. Coffee will be served from 1O a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

Saturday, June 29  - Burlington Township, Burlington County Historic West Hill Manor  220th Anniversary Historic West Hill Manor will celebrate its 220th Anniversary on Saturday from 12:00 noon - 4:00 pm.  Talk to Colonial soldiers about their life on the march and in battle. Learn to make your own ice cream and how to use a spinning wheel. The kids will enjoy our new Toy Room and play with toys from the past. Our handmade dollhouse will also be on display. At 3:00 pm, there will be a special presentation on Freemasonry and The Underground Railroad.  Admission is $10 per adult and $5 per child under 12. Saturdays until October 5  - Cape May, Cape May County Whalers Cottages at Batts Lane Self-guided Tour On Saturday between 12:00 noon and 3:00 pm, take a self-guided tour of two beautifully restored, historic cottages that Chris & Dave Clemans have just donated to  Mid-Atlantic Center for the Arts & Humanities ! Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, The Owen Coachman House incorporates a c. 1700 “Whalers Cottage” - one of the oldest surviving structures in Cape May County. It was moved to this site in 1846 by Owen Coachman, a free black man who purchased land here for a farm. A tour of this site brings to life the important story of our county’s free African American community in the years before the Civil War.  Admission is $10 per adult and  children (ages 3-12) $5 .
