Mark the date!

The public is invited to attend this program sponsored by the Buena Historical Society on Wednesday evening, May 15th, 2019. We welcome guest speaker Arlene Baker. Arlene, a well-known speaker on the military, will present a special program entitled “Women in the Military.”

The program, which includes a slideshow and talk, begins at 7:30 p.m. at the Buena Vista Township Hall, 890 Harding Highway, Buena, NJ. The event is free to all and we encourage everyone to come. For any questions, call: 856-466-4654.

Please note: Miss Baker, a former military service women who served in the United States Airforce Reserves and the Army Reserves, is currently a tour guide for the Battleship New Jersey. A retired high school teacher and librarian, she also is a dedicated volunteer at the New Jersey Veterans Memorial Home where she holds monthly talks on over 100 military topics. Arlene collects needed items for the N.J. Veterans Home. She asks that anyone able or willing to do so, can please bring a donation of the following or similar items for the soldiers: body wash, denture cleaners, tissues, socks or any other sort of toiletries.

The Buena Historical Society always provides complimentary desserts and coffee will be served. Please plan to attend this awesome event as Mrs. Baker’s talk will include how women got to be in the military from the Spanish American War through WW2 … plus those serving in modern day conflicts. The speech will also include some info on Arlene’s aunt, a women code breaker… during WW2.
