The Friends of the Jacobus Vanderveer House invite visitors of all ages to experience Christmas past and present when the circa 1772 Dutch Colonial home opens its wreath-clad doors beginning Friday, November 29 at 6:30 pm with the Liberty Tree lighting sponsored by Investors Bank. The tree lighting is free to the community and features caroling with Harmonium Choral Society, hot chocolate and hot pretzels.
The Liberty Tree lighting will be followed by a new Candlelight Museum Tour on Friday evening, November 29th from 7:30-9:30 p.m. Tour the museum in a whole new light complete with holiday music, light fare, and Colonial libations authentically crafted by Les and Jobie Ford, Colonial reenactors portraying barkeeps with The Mumbling Manxman, an 18th century traveling field tavern. The cost is $25 per adult age 21 and older.

The following weekend, Colonial Christmas is in full swing. The museum will be open Saturday and Sunday, December 7 & 8, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily. The fundraiser features museum tours, period reenactors, festive holiday decorations, boutique shopping, cannon firing and military demonstrations by Lambs Artillery. Santa visits the museum from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. with story time on both Saturday and Sunday, and there are Build a Polar Pal, Holiday Ornament, and Paint & Sip workshops for children and adults throughout the weekend!
